Partnerships with Youth (PWY)

Empowering Youth Through Innovation and Community Leadership

From 2013 to 2018, the Hebron Youth Development Resource Center (YDRC) was a leading local partner in the USAID-funded Partnerships with Youth (PWY) program, implemented by IREX. The program was designed to empower Palestinian youth (ages 14–29) through local youth hubs that offer skills training, civic engagement, and economic opportunities across the West Bank.

Program Overview

PWY aimed to:

  • Strengthen the institutional capacity of youth-serving organizations like YDRC
  • Provide young people with leadership, employability, and service-learning opportunities
  • Create a sustainable, youth-led model for engagement and impact across Palestine

Our Role as Hebron YDRC

As one of ten core implementing partners in the West Bank, YDRC Hebron played a vital role in reaching thousands of youth in Hebron Governorate, with a focus on underserved and high-potential youth.

Key Achievements:

  • 2,800+ youth reached through 120+ structured training programs
  • 37 youth interns hosted at YDRC, many of whom went on to lead workshops and secure jobs
  • 302 youth trained in entrepreneurship and small business development
  • 26 youth-led project ideas showcased at public forums

Impact & Outcomes

  • 48% of YDRC interns gained employment after program completion
  • 96% satisfaction rate among youth participants
  • Sustained programming at YDRC beyond the project period through local and donor partnerships

Sustainability & Network

By the program’s end, Hebron YDRC had joined nine other centers in signing a joint Memorandum of Understanding to sustain youth programming across the West Bank. PWY helped YDRC adopt new tools in monitoring, evaluation, leadership, and youth-led governance — positioning our center as a national model in youth development.

Partners in Success

PWY was funded by USAID and implemented by IREX in cooperation with:

  • Local youth clubs and NGOs
  • International partners like Silatech, International Youth Foundation, Microsoft, and Cisco
  • Education and career development platforms (Ta3mal, EducationUSA)
  • Palestinian universities, municipalities, and private sector mentors

Legacy

Through PWY, YDRC expanded its reach, built a stronger organizational foundation, and empowered a generation of youth to lead change in their communities. Today, we continue to build on this legacy by offering innovative programs that foster youth leadership, inclusion, and economic opportunity in Hebron and beyond.
